One Act Festival – Halloween Edition

Beginning October 9th and playing each Friday in October, Stage 773 presents the One Act Festival – Halloween Edition. “Boo! It’s almost Fall,” an announcement from Stage 773 alerted theater-goers and Halloween-lovers alike, “The One Act Festival: Halloween Edition line-up is announced.” They go on to say, “Seven theatre companies thrill your Friday night with a Halloween, haunted, or horror themed one act. This third installment of the Stage 773 One Act Festival features spook-tacular stories…The talent in this festival production, sharing a single stage, is downright scary.”

Each Friday this month, the seven theater companies will combine to create a night made up of a series of 15-minute comedy sketches. The only rules are that each sketch must be Halloween-themed and produced with the unique style of each respective ensemble. The seven participating theater companies are:

  • Babes With Blades Theatre Company
  • Cold Basement Dramatics
  • Hobo Junction Productions
  • New Millennium Theatre Company
  • Organic Theater Company
  • (re)discover theatre
  • The Ruckus

Shows run each Friday night in October at 10:30pm at Stage 773. Tickets are only $15 and available online. For more information, visit the show’s web page.

The festival will include shows from Chicago favorites such as pH Productions, Matter Dance, sketch comedy from Rabbit, Rabbit, and two world premiere new shows from Lewallen and Younts, Musical Horror Story: Exorcism and The Haunted Life.’

The production runs for two weekends between October 29th and November 7th. There will also be four performances on Halloween night alone, with the first kicking off at 6:00pm and the final show of the night starting at 11:00pm. For more information, visit the show’s web page.
